About Us
MISSION
APPROACH
Research
We research ways to improve patient outcomes with a focus on:
- Strategies that prevent infectious diseases and disease transmission
- Diagnostic technologies that return results quicker and that are more accurate so that patients can receive care early on, when disease is easier to treat
- Disease treatments, and shorter courses of treatments, that are more effective and less burdensome for patients to take
- Behavioral approaches that help people who have infectious diseases make healthy decisions
Training & Education
- We provide training for early career clinicians and public health practitioners who are pursuing research in global health contexts
- We develop educational programming and materials that help patients make informed decisions about their care
Community-based Outreach
We develop, implement, and evaluate strategies tailored to reach vulnerable, marginalized, and hard-to-reach populations who are disproportionately affected by infectious diseases
Translating Research to Policy
We engage stakeholders, including communities, government, and local experts to develop and implement evidence-based policies
FOCUS
-
Infectious diseases including HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, COVID-19
-
Conditions and comorbidities that undermine or complicate infectious diseases treatment, including antimicrobial resistance, heart disease, diabetes, substance use, poor nutrition
-
Disease treatment among people during stages of life that are understudied and that are associated with unique physiological factors, including neonates, children, and pregnant and postpartum women, and people who are transitioning
-
Inclusive care strategies and approaches that ensure access to high quality infectious diseases care among marginalized, vulnerable, and underserved populations including the LGBTQIA+ community, people engaged in transactional sex, and people who inject drugs
-
Factors that inhibit patients from seeking care, including social stigma or gender-based violence
