Mr. Prasad Deshpande

I, Prasad S Deshpande, am a Masters in virology with 12 years of experience in virology. I have been involved in clinical research for 12 years as laboratory staff at BJGMC-CTU; a site for ACTG and IMPAACT studies. I have been involved in establishing and validating the molecular biology (RT PCR) laboratory at BJMC CRS laboratory. Additionally, I have been working in capacity of Safety officer for BJMC CTU laboratory involved in active biosafety training and monitoring of biosafety training for lab staff.  Along with various ACTG/IMPAACT studies, I am also involved in providing lab support and working in lab working groups of RePORT consortium studies at site. During COVID-19 pandemic I was involved in setting up PCR lab and training lab persons for RT PCR assays along with getting ICMR approval.  I have been with BJMC CTU since Aug 2009 and in JHIPL since Dec 2020.  

After completing my masters from National Institute of Virology, Pune which is India’s premier virology institute I have been working in roles at BJGMC CTU laboratory. Later I have completed my PhD work in Dept. of Biochemistry university of Pune for the topic “Role of Toll-like receptor and Vitamin D receptor polymorphisms in HIV disease progression.”
